Playground Maintenance

Work is in progress on cleaning and painting the playpark wooden fence and the play equipment to protect the equipment against the weather and to prolong its life span.

Upon taking apart the little climbing frame at the top of the playpark, we found that the rust damage was far worse than we or ROSPA had thought. We had no other option than to close this bit of equipment to the public immediately, remove and separate the various components, put protective safety barriers around the remaining parts of the equipment, safety straps around the remaining bits to prevent the barriers being removed by children, which is checked daily to ensure all safety barriers are still in place and not tampered with.

The "Before" photo displays how bad the rust damage was. This section and other items have been taken off-site for repair, with new steel pipe replacing the rusted pipes, rewelded into place, and repainted.

The "After" photo shows the finished part before it is brought back to the play park and reassembled on site.

Maintenance like this is expected to help preserve the life of the play equipment for years to come, avoiding the need to buy expensive new equipment.
